WHERE DID THEY START?
It seems that the first actual computer game was released in 1962? Steve Russell wrote Spacewar on a PDP-1, an early Digital Equipment Corporation interactive mini computer. This game “SpaceWar” was definitely very basic and was used to demonstrate the powerful abilities of the revolutionarily small computer.
Heading into the mid-sixties, the game was to be found on nearly every research computer in the U.S.
By the mid-1970s, games were being developed and distributed utilising hobby groups and magasines to promote them.
THE CRASH
At the start of the 80′s the market place became overloaded with games that were really quite inferior, such as “Atari2600″, ET and Pacman and they actually performed badly. I remember buying my son a Commodore64 which was in colour, this was a great performer at that time while others like Atari were suffering big losses. By 1983 the market was nearly non-existant! Console computer games were at an all time low.
REALISATION
Computers – PC’s were being used more and more for educational purposes and so this lessened the market for PC games. But things would change rapidly after the mid 80′s.
GAMING CONSOLES
Commodore Amiga, Nintendo and Sega started to perform. By the early 90′s 3D graphics came into play so games once again could be played on a PC with great results.
Super Mario 64 was a great success!
NEW CONSOLES OR UPGRADED!

Of course the redevelopment of these particular brands continues on right up to the present day.
